Shanna Kraai provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults utilizing a compassionate, strength-based, and cognitive-behavioral therapy approach. She specializes in anxiety, ADHD, and learning difficulties in elementary to middle school children.

Shanna received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from Hope College in Holland, MI.  She worked for two years with a specialized foster care agency where she provided case management, individualized therapy, and family therapy to children and foster parents in the midst of trauma.  Shanna then received her Masters of Social Work from the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver with a clinical specialization in families, trauma, and high-risk youth.

As an MSW, Shanna has worked in multiple settings with her experience highlighting her passion for youth and families.  She provided psychosocial assessments at a juvenile justice assessment center and worked as a research assistant through the Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver.  Shanna worked in the Cherry Creek School District of Denver, Colorado for seven years where she administered mental health and special education assessments, as well as provided individual and group therapy services for elementary to high-school age students.  She has also worked internationally and spent three years in Amman, Jordan where she was the primary school counselor at an American Embassy school providing individual child and parent support around grief and loss, child development issues, anxiety, ADHD, and learning differences.  Shanna recently moved to Nashville to be closer to immediate family as she raises her own 2 younger children.

Shanna is passionate about children and aspires to create a climate of empathy and understanding with children and families.  She uses cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and social thinking approaches to impact positive change with her clients.  She is a skilled clinician who strives to create resilience and joy in family relationships.
