Samantha Hamby is a registered & licensed dietitian/nutritionist who brings a wide array of experience to Nashville Child & Family Wellness Center. She started her journey at Michigan State University and completed her undergraduate work in dietetics before moving to Nashville in 2010 and completing her dietetic internship through University of Tennessee Martin.
Samantha has spent over 8 years working in the behavioral health field guiding others towards making peace with food. She has formerly worked at residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care, providing nutrition counseling to children, adolescents, adults and their families struggling with disordered eating, eating disorders and other co-occurring disorders. Additionally, she has spent time helping clients and families expand their food variety and achieve a more balanced plate. Samantha utilizes a blend of motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and CBT in treatment.
Samantha embraces the HAES (Health At Every Size) approach and uses evidenced based research in her practice. She enjoys empowering others to strengthen their relationship with their body through normalized feeding. Samantha invites her clients to explore this process with curiosity and encourages self-discovery from a non-judgmental stance.
