Meet Bette
Child, Adolescent, & Adult Therapist
Bette Roberts (she/her), LMSW, is a master’s level clinician who is passionate about serving others and brings humility, empathy, and an open mind to her work. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Sciences at Samford University and her Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Trauma Treatment. At NCFCW, Bette works with children, adolescents, and young adults seeking therapy for trauma, grief, mood and anxiety disorders, social skills deficits, and adjustment to life transitions. She also co-facilitates the Friendship Social Skills Group for ages 8-11.
While Bette is a Tennessee native, she has worked in various clinical settings both in the US and internationally. She has worked in child abuse prevention, anti-human trafficking, parent training and support, religious trauma, the foster care system, and with sexual assault survivors.
Bette enjoys using a blend of evidence-based treatment approaches through a person-in-environment and strengths-based perspective. Her approaches include but are not limited to: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Bette has trained in and is pursuing her certification in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for ages 2-7.
With a goal to help her clients feel empowered and reach their goals, Bette provides psychoeducation, teaches new skills and helps clients identify their strengths and abilities. Bette places a strong emphasis on the connection between mind, body, and emotions, and incorporates somatic based work into her practice. Bette is LGBTQIA+ affirming. She excels in building a warm, safe environment for every client and is currently under licensure supervision with Emily Hardcastle, LCSW.
