Meet Mary Gray Stolz, Psy.D.

Post-doctoral Fellow, Child and Adolescent Therapist

Mary Gray Stolz, Psy.D. is a post-doctoral fellow at the Nashville Child and Family Wellness Center, where she is deeply committed to serving children and families with empathy, curiosity, and open-mindedness. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, focusing on the treatment and assessment of diverse youth with complex psychiatric and medical conditions. Mary Gray holds both an M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Clinical Child Psychology, from La Salle University. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sewanee: The University of the South. Mary Gray brings a wealth of experience across multiple clinical settings, including community mental health centers, schools, private practices, psychiatric inpatient units, medical hospitals, emergency departments, and therapeutic camps. Mary Gray values working with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive, research-driven care in a warm and safe environment. Specializing in individual therapy for children, Mary Gray treats anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, tic disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., hair-pulling), social skills deficits, and emotion dysregulation. Her approach draws on evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Mary Gray emphasizes building rapport and collaboration with her clients and their families. Recognizing that therapy can be intimidating, she fosters a compassionate, supportive environment built on teamwork, blending playfulness and creativity with strong advocacy. Mary Gray’s approach balances building meaningful relationships with setting clear, personalized goals to help clients achieve lasting outcomes.

In addition to therapy, Mary Gray conducts comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, evaluating cognitive, academic, social, and psychological functioning. These assessments offer valuable insights into a child’s strengths and challenges, guiding individualized recommendations to help youth succeed in their environments. Mary Gray’s assessments address concerns including ADHD, specific learning disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety. She is under licensure supervision with Dr. Daniel Neely, Ph.D.
