Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist

Meet Dr. Quasem

Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist
(She/Her)

Dr. Susanna Quasem, MD, QEEG-D has enjoyed practicing as a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist in the Nashville area for the past 13 years. Over the course of her time practicing as a psychiatrist, she was impressed that the best outcomes for her clients were achieved when there was coordination of care between providers who were all practicing high quality, evidence-based care.  Her natural conclusion was that the best way to help her clients was to provide the opportunity for like-minded psychiatrists, therapists, psychologists and other mental health care providers to work together in one place. Dr. Susanna Quasem founded the Nashville Child and Family Wellness Center (NCFWC) in 2014 so she could enjoy working with a great team to deliver the highest quality care to clients and families. She did an intensive dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) training with her therapy team and also enjoyed the study of neuroscience, prompting her Q-EEG certification and the development of the Center’s neurodiagnostic program.

For some background, Dr. Quasem grew up in a medical family and learned to analyze everything from her wonderful mother, so she knew early on she wanted to be a psychiatrist. In medical school at University of Tennessee, she was invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in her third year and went on to do her psychiatry residency and child/adolescent fellowship at Duke, where she was chief resident. After training, she started a mood and anxiety disorder clinic for children and adolescents at Vanderbilt before starting her own private practice.

Dr. Quasem focuses on systems, balance, and the big picture. Her passion is helping kids by identifying issues in early stages, so that with some help, they can get on a better trajectory and have fulfilling, meaningful lives. She also loves applying her developmental knowledge to work with adults and families.
